A wide and well-chosen range of approaches and instruments are described, and richly illustrated in case studies.
2. Hamilton, D, Jenkins, D et al (eds) (1977) Beyond the Numbers Game, Macmillan Education, London. This is a rich and exciting collection of descriptions of, methods for, debates about and reports of educational evaluation. It centres on illuminative approaches.
3. Wisdom, J (2002) Making an impact: the evaluation of History 2000, in Managing Educational Development Projects, ed C Baume, P Martin and M Yorke, pp 125–39, Kogan Page, London. This is a valuable, well-written and thoughtful account of the evaluation of a large educational development project. It pays particular attention to the changing context in which the project takes place.
