Notably, TfpBDH material can also be called as a 2D porous polymer due to very poor crystallinity. However, based on pore size analysis and rough PXRD fitting we have speculatively predicted the ABC structure

It is important to note that the turn on mechanism showed by TfpBDH -CONs in the solid state is only selective among the nitroaromatic compounds mentioned in this paper. We also observed that TfpBDH -CONs showed similar colour change ["turn on" fluorescence sensing] as that observed for TNP when exposed to trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) and hydrochloric acid (HCl) vapour. This further prove the concept of proton transfer mechanism which is most likely playing the key role for such colour change in TfpBDH -CONs upon expose to acidic environment
