Crystal powder of 1 cis (100 mg) was ground to an amorphous state over 30 min in an agate mortar. The fluorescence spectrum of the ground powder of 1 cis was measured. The agate mortar was placed in a 1 L glass beaker containing 10 mL CH2Cl2. The beaker was sealed and left to stand in the dark for 3 h. The mortar was then removed, and the fluorescence spectrum of the vapor-fumed powder was immediately measured. This experimental cycle was repeated five times.
