Assessment with rubrics: An efficient and objective means of assessing student outcomes in an information resources class
-
October
-
Elizabeth Choinski, Amy E. Mark, and Missy Murphey, "Assessment with Rubrics: An Efficient and Objective Means of Assessing Student Outcomes in an Information Resources Class," portal: Libraries and the Academy 3, no. 4 (2003): 573.two librarians independent of the librarianinstructor\ nscored student reflection papers using a 5-point scale. Rubric items\nwere considered successful if 75 percent of the students received an\naverage score of three or higher. The results showed that weak areas\nof comprehension are those that require higher level thinking, such as\ nthe ability to distinguish between the popular and academic press. The\nlibrarian-instructor will place more emphasis on these topics in future\nclasses and reword rubric items of questionable design.
