This study on 50 adolescents and young adults did not find an association between health literacy and medication adherence, but had dichotomized self-reported medication adherence into adherence/non-adherence with 100% adherence as the cutoff between groups; potentially, a ceiling effect on medication adherence rates may have contributed to the lack of a significant association.
