Single center investigation of 174 pts with heart failure prior to elective or urgent, but not emergent, intermediate or major noncardiac surgery stratified by ejection fraction. Following multivariate adjustment, severely reduced ejection fraction (<30 %) was associated with adverse perioperative events. Age >80 years and history of diabetes were also independent risk factors for adverse events.
