    • 2 was evaporated under reduced pressure and the residue was subjected to column chromatography on silica gel using EtOAc-n-hexane (2:1) as the eluent to afford the aminoimidazopyridine product 4 in high purity. All the isolated products gave satisfactory spectral and physical data. The isolated catalyst could be recycled, see Supplementary data for details.
