Note that anomalous diffusion of an unbiased tracer particle in single-file systems can be reasonably well interpreted in terms of a generalized Langevin equation describing dynamics of a tagged monomer of an infinitely long Rouse polymer chain, since both processes converge in the large time limit to fractional Brownian motion with Hurst index H=1/4. Interestingly, for a tagged monomer subject to a constant bias, a straightforward calculation shows that the variance of its displacement also appears to be independent of the magnitude of the bias. In this latter case, however, dynamics of a BI in single-file systems is very different from that of a biased tagged monomer because a nonequilibrium distribution of the bath particles emerges giving rise to complicated force-velocity relations, which cannot be obtained within the generalized Langevin equation approach.
