17. Per the National Comprehensive Cancer Network treatment guidelines, prostate cancer clinical stage is determined based on findings from a digital rectal exam, needle biopsy, and transrectal ultrasound. T1 refers to a tumor that is nonpalpable during a rectal exam. T2 refers to a tumor that can be felt during a rectal exam but is confined to the prostate. T3 refers to a palpable tumor that appears to extend beyond the prostate. T4 refers to metastatic prostate cancer.
18. Prostate cancer grade is determined using the Gleason Grading System, which rates prostate cancer tissue on its microscopic appearance.
