    • The mean time for each cis-stilbene molecule to absorb a pump photon under the present excitation conditions is estimated as 1.5 ns, or an irradiation time of ca. 80 μs with the 76 MHz repetition-rate, 250 fs pump light. This time is comparable to the transit time (75 μs) which is the time needed by a molecule to pass the irradiated spot of the sample jet
