    • Although the d-spacing value is consistent with that of reported PTCDA molecules in ref. 35, the π-stacking distance (0.372 nm) in this study is slightly larger than that of reported perylenediimide (0.36 nm) in ref. 20 and other perylenediimide derivatives (0.34 nm) bearing a 2-phenylethyl group at the imide positions in ref. 31. Concerning the reason why the π-stacking distance between perylene dianhydride molecules is larger than that of other perylenediimide molecules, it is speculated that the strong dipole-dipole interactions that arise from the polarity of the carbonyl group and oxygen atoms in perylene dianhydride lead to the transition dipole moment becoming large so as to show a larger value of π-stacking distance between perylene dianhydride molecules, but further experimental or theoretical confirmation is required
