    • The γ-γ distribution provides a more accurate representation of scintillation statistics [see, SPIE, Bellingham, WA, Chap. 3], but its aperture-averaged behavior is less convenient to work with than the lognormal case, for which aperture-averaged scintillation tends to retain its lognormal character. As explained in Sec. 5, we do not believe that γ-γ scintillation leads to a more severe impact on the sift and error probabilities
