Slightly different reaction conditions, such as lower water to silane ratio and higher acid concentrations used in the current study is probably responsible for the difference in deformation behavior. In any case, BTMSH was still seen to decrease unrecovered strain in the epoxy-reinforced aerogels to a similar extent
