We assume that this temporary interruption of catalytic activity is related to the low reactivity of nitroethane compared to nitromethane as can be observed from the results described in Table2. Furthermore, an important loss of activity between the two first runs of the recycling procedure was already detected in Table1. Here run 2 was performed for only 24h, a probably not long enough period to detect quantifiable amounts of expected compound 7f.
