    • 4. Removal of the solvent followed by purification on silica gel (Merck, 100-200 mesh, ethylacetate/hexane, 0.5:9.5) gave the pure sugar annulated diaryl tetrahydropyran. The products thus obtained were characterized by IR, NMR and mass spectroscopy (see Supplementary data for spectroscopic data of products).
