The fact that the anodic and cathodic peaks are thicker than expected for an a of 0.5, the fact they have approximately the same thickness rather than corresponding to transfer coefficients complementary to 1, points to some effect of the surface unevenness, rather than to kinetic complications. This is the reason that the standard rate constant was derived from the simulation of the location of the peak potentials by means of eqn (1) rather the simulation of the whole curve.
