    • The catalytic activity of Sn-W mixed oxides was much higher than those of pure Brànsted acid catalysts, such as a heteropoly acid and sulfuric acid (Table 3). A possible explanation for the higher catalytic activity of Sn-W mixed oxides is that the Lewis acidic sites also promote the hydration, likely through the activation of water to form a more nucleophilic hydroxo species
