In TS-1 and Ti-beta, titanium is isomorphously substituted and coordinated by four O-Si bridges in the as-synthesized materials. However, in the presence of water, one Ti-O-Si bond could easily be hydrolyzed which results in three Si-O links. Furthermore, in a sieve like MCM-41, titanium is more likely to possess only three silanoxy links in the as-synthesized material.
