A fifteen year attempt to develop Engineering Science at the Advanced Level of the General Certificate of Education failed to attract very few Students. One of the reasons for its eventual abandonment was the absence of support form the Engineering Professor's Council who continued to prefer physics. See Heywood, J, Carter, G, and D. T. Kelly (2007) Engineering Science A level in the UK. A Case study in the balanced assessment of student learning. Educational policies and Educational Scholarship.
