    • Gastrooesophageal reflux and gastric aspiration in lung transplant patients with or without chronic rejection
    • This paper concluded that lung transplant patients with BOS did not have particularly higher reflux indices. Bile acids in BALF might be associated with the development of BOS. Treating patients with PPI therapy does not protect patients from aspirating gastric contents and probably will not prevent the development of BOS

    • Azithromycin reduces gastroesophageal reflux and aspiration in lung transplant recipients
    • Azithromycin improves lung function in some patients with BOS after lung transplantation, and this improvement has been attributed to an immunomodulatory effect. This study shows that lung transplant patients on azithromycin have less GER and bile acid aspiration. This effect might be due to enhanced esophageal motility and accelerated gastric emptying induced by azithromycin
