This is the first study addressing the possibility of imatinib discontinuation in CML patients with undetectable residual disease for more than 2 years. Twelve patients were included and six patients had a molecular relapse. Molecular response was re-established upon re-introduction of imatinib. Six other patients (50%) continued to have an undetectable level of BCR-ABL transcript after a median follow-up of 18 months
