    • The scope of this method of randomly selecting the jump vectors to construct the stochastic path of the contact line is limited. The method works well for short time scales and not for long time scales. Part of the reason for its failure is that any memory associated with the transition from one vector to the other is lost. We use this simple method here just to show that it is possible to obtain non-Gaussian fluctuations when a nonlinear friction is present. A more accurate method would be to solve the Langevin equation (eq 3) by considering metastable energy states.
