This study found higher recalled pain scores postoperatively, the presence of pain elsewhere and nonprivate insurance status as independent risk factors.

This guideline is published in Dutch by CBO, which is a Dutch institute for the improvement of quality of healthcare, and gives a good summary of possibilities (evidence-based) in providing treatment for labor pain.

In a longitudinal, prospective review of 1288 patients it was found that the severity of acute pain after childbirth is a predictor of chronic pain and postpartum depression after labor and delivery, but not the mode of delivery.

Cohort study comparing persistent pain 1 year after cesarean section and after vaginal birth. Risk factors of developing chronic pain were history of previous pain and pain on the day after delivery.
