76. 3 (11.70 g, 180 mmol), and triethylamine hydrochloride (24.70 g, 180 mmol) in toluene (150 mL) and methanol (30 ml) was heated at reflux for 3 days. Upon cooling to room temperature, an aqueous solution of NaOH (1.0 M, 100 mL) was added and the mixture was stirred for 30 min. The aqueous layer was separated and treated with concentrated HCl until the solution attained pH 5.0. The white precipitate was collected by filtration and dried in air.
