The shape of the LUMO indicated that 1 would possess the character of a disilaquaterphenyl derivative in no small part. Actually, the longest absorption maximum calculated for the hydrogen-substituted disilabiphenyl was 343 irai (f= 0.6066), which was blue-shifted by 30 nm compared to that of the Dip-substituted one. This correlation resembles that between the longest absorption maxima of biphenyl (248 nm) and p-quaterphenyl (294 nm) in cyclohexane
