    • A metal free species would show acid/base behavior on varying the solution pH. A Zn derivative is labile at low pH, and there is a change from an aquo to a hydroxo axial ligand (with a concomitant spectral change) at high pH. Mn, Fe and Co derivatives are all affected by pH with the possibility of μ-oxo aggregation for the Fe and possibly the Mn species.
