    • Note that non-active microelectrodes are usually situated around the outside of the array which is due to a failure in the fabrication process. As it is the interactions of diffusion zones that are key to the sensor performance, the low number of inactive discs does not affect our interpretation. However, in other cases where there are a large number of non-active microelectrodes on the array, this may become significant
