    • Transglycosylation of thioglycoside 8 with methyl lactate produced the glucosyl lactate with a α:β ratio of only 4:1. Similarly, glycosylation with methyl (2S)-3-O-tert-butyldiphenylsilylglycerate afforded a α:β ratio of about 9:1 indicating that double stereodifferentiation was probably active but not very important.
