    • Cellulose is a linear polysaccharide composed of β(l-4)-linked glucose residues. O2H groups are much more reactive than O6H and O3H groups in the etherification reaction of cellulose in aqueous solutions. In HEC and HMHEC, most of O2H groups and part of the O6H groups are etherified, while most of O3H groups are left intact
