    • If indeed elisapterosin A (2) is about 15 kcal/mol more stable than elisapterosin F (1), and these compounds are formed through a nonenzymatic thermodynamic process, then the yield of 2 from this extract should be several orders of magnitude greater than that of 1. Interestingly, this is not the case, perhaps suggesting an enzymatic conversion of 3 to 1 and 2. Alternatively, compound 2 could originate from 1 during isolation upon contact with silica gel.
