    • During formation of 8, a byproduct characterized as a triruthenium complex containing a perpendicularly coordinated 1-phenyl-1-butyne ligand, Cp*Ru)3(μ3-CH, μ3- η2:η2(⊥)EtC=CPh, was also obtained in 12% yield (by NMR, This complex was presumably formed by the reaction of one of the intermediates to 3 with benzene. Experimental details will be published elsewhere in near future. 1H NMR (400 MHz, C6D 6, 23 °C, δ, 1.70 (s, 30 H, C5Me5, 1.57 (s, 15 H, C5Me5, 1.05 [t, 3J(H,H, 7.5 Hz, 3 H -CH2CH3, 3.07 [q, 3J(H,H, 7.5 Hz, 2 H, CH2CH3, 5.98 [d, 3J(H,H, 8.0 Hz, 2 H, o-C6H5, 6.82 [t, 3(H,H, 8.0 Hz, 1 H, p-C6H5, 7.10 [t, 3JH,H, 8.0 Hz, 2 H, m-C6H5
