    • ARGONAUTE4 is required for resistance to Pseudomonas syringae in Arabidopsis
    • This paper demonstrated the requirement of AGO4, a component in the small RNA-mediated RdDM pathway, in the disease resistance to bacteria Pst. Mutants of ago4 showed decreased DNA methylation and enhanced disease symptoms. The function of AGO4 in resistance to Pst is independently of other components in the RdDM pathway.

    • Identification of miniature inverted-repeat transposable elements (MITEs) and biogenesis of their siRNAs in the Solanaceae: new functional implications for MITEs
    • The authors identified 22 families of MITEs in Solanaceae, which may contribute to gene function and regulation. One MITE insertion generated the functionally important alternative exon of the TMV resistance gene N. Small RNAs generated from MITEs were also identified.
