    • The corrugation of a thick (50 ML) Pb(111) film was determined using an eikonal analysis of the He atom diffraction intensities based on the following rigid surface corrugation function assuming a well depth of 7 meV: ς (R) =2 ς1 (2) { cos (G2 x) +cos [G2 (x 2 + 3 2 y)] +cos [G2 (x 2 + 3 2 y)] } +2 ς (0) { cos [G0 (3 2 x- y 2)] +cos [G0 (3 2 x+ y 2)] +cos (G0 y) } where G0 is the lattice vector along the (110) azimuthal direction and G2 is the lattice vector along the (112) azimuthal direction. ς1 (2) is the first-order corrugation amplitude along the (112) direction and ς (0) is the first-order corrugation amplitude along the (110) direction. At an incident-beam energy of 22 meV, ξ1 (2) =0.012±0.001 und ξ1 (0) =0.0004±0.0001 (Ref.).
