    • In the lossy, noisy quantum target-detection scenario, annihilation operator of the returned light from channel 0 (object absent) is given by aR (0) = ath and that of channel 1 (object present) is, aR (1) =κ aS + (1-κ) ath, where aS corresponds to signal mode's annihilation operator and ath is that of the thermal noise bath engulfing the object. The task then is to discriminate the corresponding density operators ρ0 and ρ1.
