    • The factors responsible for the upfield shift of 31P resonances of these species are not clear at this stage. It has been argued (for instance, see ref 29) that a decrease in C-P-C angles upon phosphine coordination to aluminum would give a more negative 31P shift, but this study shows clearly a reverse trend (see Tables S3 and S4 in the Supporting Information, The difference in electronegativity in the M-P bond and the change in the π-electron overlap seem not to correlate well either, in comparison of the data reported herein with those of group 10 metal and lithium derivatives refs 19-20. 22-23
