    • The reason for the fast temperature variations within the mode in PDMS is twofold. First, the of PDMS layer is much smaller than that of the bulk silica core, therefore thermal dissipation from the mode to PDMS layer is faster than to silica. Second, most optical losses are concentrated in PDMS layer due to its larger absorption coefficient than silica, so that PDMS absorbs more energy
