He came to believe that many of the problems assailing the modern world were caused by the fact that spiritual development had not progressed at the same rate as science and technology, and that it had even regressed. The theory of telefinalism which he developed suggested that evolution must continue through the spiritual development of humanity and the evolution of religion as well.
