The order of the effectiveness of the solvents agreed with the log P values (i.e., NMP (-0.38), DMF (-1.01), and DMSO (-1.35)). We presume that the ring closing of the lithium carbonate intermediates became slower in the reactions in solvents with higher polarities. The log P values were calculated at the web site indicated in ref 32.
