Ritual, Cosmology, and Ontology: Chang-Tsai's Moral Philosophy and Neo-Confucian Ethics
-
The view that Confucian ethics is grounded in a cosmological view is not new. Indeed, Kai-wing Chow has remarked that in "traditional societies, ethics have often been rationalized as founded in the cosmic order, be it the creator of the universe or the very structure of the universe itself. " See Kai-wing Chow, "Ritual, Cosmology, and Ontology: Chang-Tsai's Moral Philosophy and Neo-Confucian Ethics," Philosophy East and West, Vol. 43(1993), pp. 201-228.
