    • Synthesis of 1. H2vanen was prepared according to previously reported synthetic procedures.28 A yellow solution of H2vanen (1 mmol) in 1,2-dichloroethane (5 mL) was added to a 10 mL ethanol solution of MnCl2·4H2O (1 mmol, Solid NBu4MnO4 (0.4 mmol, NBu4MnO4 was prepared according to a procedure reported in the literature29) was then added in small portions over approximately 10 min, leading to a black liquor. The solution was stirred for 3 h and then filtered. After several days, dark crystals were formed and studied by X-ray diffraction. Elemental anal. Calcd for C18H24ClMnN2O7, C, 44.22; H, 5.32; N, 5.73. Found: C, 44.16; H, 5.21; N, 5.68.     • 3. The intensity data were collected using Mo-Kα radiation (Λ = 0.71073 Å) monochromatized from graphite at 298 K on a Bruker CCD-based X-ray diffractometer. The data were processed and corrected for absorption with SADABS. The structures were solved and refined with the SHELXTL software package. The non-hydrogen atoms were refined anisotropically. Hydrogen atoms were located in the calculated positions except water H atoms, which were located in difference Fourier map and then refined. All calculations were performed using the SHELXTL-97 program. CCDC reference number 289078.
