    • In classical Monte Carlo a dynamic integration is defined, following Ref., as the process whereby ensemble averages are calculated via the generation of a Markovian chain of states, e.g., by use of a Metropolis importance sampling scheme. Static integration, on the other hand, describes the process whereby ensemble averages are calculated by sampling independently generated states.
