    • CdSe/ZnSe core-shell nanoparticles used in this work were prepared by an organometallic synthetic approach in a three-component hexadecylamine- trioctylphosphine oxide-trioctylphosphine mixture as described in Ref.. For the PL measurements, the nanocrystals were dissolved in toluene. The PL spectra were excited using a Xe lamp and a monochromator and measured with a Hamamatsu R943 photomultiplier.

    • Owing to the high optical density of the medium, the absorption of the exciting beam and, consequently, the probability of excitation of the "primary" dots are not homogeneous in space.
