    • We have already performed the detailed characterization of the macrocluster of N-methylpropionamide, which is nonpolymerizable and has a structure similar to mat of NIPAAm, on silica surfaces in benzene by surface force measurement and ATR-FTIR spectroscopy. For 0.0005 mol% N-methylpropionamide, the ATR-FTIR spectrum showed the hydrogen-bonded v(NH) absorption at 3320 cm-1 and a long-range attraction extending over 300 nm appeared in the force profile. This indicated the formation of an N-methylpropionamide macrocluster, which had a thickness that was ca. half the attraction range. These results will be published in another paper
