    • 6 found at this stage for their stearylated silica particles in chloroform a reduced sedimentation rate and the formation of colloidal crystals, which were attributed to electrical charge on the particles' surfaces. For our particles we did not observe such behavior during the particle synthesis. However, exposing the particles to prolonged flow did have a strong effect on our particles (see text).
