It should be noted that this quantity varies with the position above the bottom of the cell (z), as well as with the radial position (r). Measuring it for single particles at various r, z positions revealed that v showed a quantitative correspondence with r and z, as expected for affine motion: v = zγ = z(ωr/H) the plate-plate distance in the shear cell.
