    • Evolutionary conservation of microsatellite flanking regions and their use in resolving the phylogeny of cichlid fishes (Pisces: Perciformes)
    • Eva Jutzeler conducted this research as part of her M.S. thesis. Dik Heg originally worked on life-history decisions and cooperation in birds and beetles, since 2001 he is involved in understanding the cooperative breeding systems of Lake Tanganyika cichlids, using both field and laboratory experiments and molecular techniques to study parentage and relatedness. Jeremy Mitchell is interested in the behavioural ecology of group-living in fish, and this work was part of his PostDoc visit to the 'Hasli' Lab in Bern. Danielle Bonfils is a technical assistant at the Zoological Institute, conducting molecular work in many species for several research groups, including birds, fish and invertebrates.
