University of Chicago Press, Chicago, Illinois. Karen J. Nutt carried out this research while she was a doctoral candidate in the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology and the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. Karen's dissertation advisor was Eileen Lacey, who works on rodent sociality. Karen is currently a New Zealand Foundation for Research, Science, and Technology Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Waikato where she is working with Ian Hogg on kiwi molecular ecology. Karen uses extensive field studies in combination with genetic techniques to study the evolution of vertebrate breeding systems, social systems, and population dynamics.
