In Monte-Carlo simulations a intriguingly high stability was found for the pyrazolium/pyrazole assembly relying mainly on dispersive forces and π-cation interactions. For steric reasons the pyrazolium pyrazole assembly easily loses one pyrazole nucleus leading to the most abundant molecular ion peak in the ESI spectrum.
