Strong-coupling theory for counter-ion distributions

It is shown that in the limit of large ion valencies and high surface charge densities, where the classical Poisson-Boltzmann theory becomes inaccurate, a novel strong-coupling theory is valid and can be used to calculate counterion-density profiles.
