    • 17 This resulting thickness from the uniaxial fit was always thinner (no more than a couple nanometers) than the equivalent isotropic fit. This uniaxial fitting method could not be used to fit all the data, as it was not sensitive to changes in the out-of-plane index that might exist between films cast from different solvents and especially in films annealed into the thermotropic phase where a homogeneous orientation of the mesogen is expected.
